In plain English: Curriculum Compass helps you find, compare and organise curriculum. You stay in charge of your family's education decisions. Be respectful, don't misuse the service, and read the Membership terms before you pay.
1. Definitions
Terms used across every Curriculum Compass policy have the same meaning:
- Curriculum Compass, we, us โ the operator of this service.
- Service โ the Curriculum Compass website, apps, tools, AI features and content.
- Parent โ the adult account holder (parent, guardian or supervising adult).
- Learner profile โ a child profile created and controlled from a parent account. Children do not hold their own accounts.
- Provider โ an independent third party that publishes, sells or distributes curriculum or educational resources.
- User content โ anything you submit: posts, listings, reviews, plans, uploads, evidence and messages.
- Family Membership โ the paid plan described in the Membership, Trial & Billing Terms.
2. About these terms
These terms apply when you visit the Service or create an account. By creating an account you accept these terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. Other policies linked from the Legal Centre form part of these terms.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a contract to hold an account. One account is for one family. Children take part only through a learner profile created and supervised by a parent. If you use the Service for an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.
4. What Curriculum Compass is โ and is not
The Service helps you discover curriculum and educational resources, compare options, organise learning and generate plans and printable guides. Some information and recommendations are automated or AI-assisted.
The Service does not guarantee that any curriculum, resource or plan meets a legal, registration, reporting, school, state or national requirement that applies to you. It is not a school or registered education provider, and it does not provide legal, educational, medical or psychological advice, or guarantee educational outcomes.
5. Parent responsibility
You remain responsible for curriculum selection and educational decisions; complying with the homeschooling rules that apply where you live; reviewing every generated plan before you use it; supervising your child; and deciding whether an activity, resource, meet-up or external site is appropriate for your child.
6. Child accounts and safety
Learner profiles belong to your parent account and are private by default. You control which features a child can use, whether a child takes part in any community feature, and whether child-visible content is shown. Child-to-child communication is restricted and off unless you enable it. Child views never present a shopping or marketplace interface. See the Child Privacy Notice.
7. Acceptable use and prohibited conduct
Your use of the Service is subject to the Acceptable Use Policy and Community Guidelines, which list prohibited conduct in full. In summary, you must not misuse accounts or bypass access controls, attack or probe the Service, access another family's data, scrape authenticated areas, impersonate others, commit fraud or spam, infringe intellectual property, breach child-safety rules, or misuse AI features.
8. Membership, trials, renewals, cancellation and refunds
Plans, the 30-day trial, automatic renewal, payment methods, currency and regional pricing, per-child add-ons, coupons, complimentary memberships, cancellation, downgrades and refunds are set out in the Membership, Trial & Billing Terms. Those terms govern if there is any inconsistency about billing.
9. Coupons and complimentary access
Coupons and invite codes are promotional, personal to you, non-transferable, have no cash value, and may be limited by expiry, usage caps, region or plan. Complimentary memberships are granted at our discretion for a defined period and may be ended if the eligibility basis changes or the account breaches these terms. We may void a code obtained through error, fraud or abuse.
10. Intellectual property
The Service, its content, design, database structure and software are owned by us or our licensors. Provider names, logos and product information remain the property of their owners. See the Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy.
11. Your content and the licence you grant
You keep ownership of your user content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for formatting and safety), and display your content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the Service. For content you deliberately publish (such as a community post or public listing), that licence also covers showing it to the audience you selected. The licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies retained in backups or where retention is required for legal, security or billing reasons.
You confirm you have the rights to the content you submit, and that it does not infringe anyone's rights or breach our policies.
12. AI-generated content
AI assists with planning, suggestions, summaries and organisation. AI output may be wrong or incomplete and must be reviewed by a parent before use. We do not guarantee legal compliance, educational outcomes, curriculum completion or academic accuracy, and AI output is not professional advice. See AI Transparency.
13. External providers and links
Curriculum listings and links to external websites are provided for convenience. Providers are independent and control their own prices, availability, terms, refunds and content, which can change at any time. A listing or link is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for external content, pricing, availability or policy changes. Confirm important details on the provider's official website before purchasing. See the Provider & External Content Policy.
14. Future marketplace features
Some areas of the Service are reserved for possible future paid placement, provider accounts or transactional features. Those features are not offered today. If we introduce them, we will publish the applicable terms and any disclosure requirements before they go live.
15. Service availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may add, change, suspend or withdraw features. Where a change materially reduces a paid benefit you have already paid for, we will tell you and, where appropriate, offer a cancellation or refund option consistent with the Membership terms.
16. Suspension, enforcement and appeals
We may remove content, restrict features or suspend an account where a policy is breached, using the three enforcement levels described in the Acceptable Use Policy: correction required, policy breach, and serious trust and safety breach. Serious breaches may result in immediate suspension. You may appeal within 14 days using the appeal process in the Acceptable Use Policy; the same process applies wherever suspension is mentioned in our policies.
17. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may terminate an account for a serious or repeated breach, unlawful use, or where required by law. On termination, paid access ends in line with the Membership terms and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
18. Disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law, the Service and its content are provided "as is" and we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in this clause excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.
19. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, data or educational or compliance outcomes. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for all claims in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period or AUD $100. Where a consumer guarantee applies and cannot be excluded, our liability is limited (where the law allows) to resupplying the service or paying the cost of resupply. This clause is the single limitation of liability for the Service; other policies refer to it rather than restating it.
20. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against reasonable claims, losses and costs arising from your unlawful use of the Service, your breach of these terms, or content you submit that infringes another person's rights โ except to the extent the loss was caused by us.
21. Governing law
For accounts in Australia, these terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. For accounts in the United States, mandatory local consumer protections continue to apply. Nothing here removes your right to bring a claim in your local jurisdiction where the law gives you that right. Country supplements in the Legal Centre add to, and never contradict, these terms.
22. Policy updates
We may update these terms. Where a change is material we will notify you and, where legally or operationally appropriate, ask you to accept the updated version. Each policy shows its version, effective date and last reviewed date.
23. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact options in the Trust Centre.
